The first Angel Run 5K was started back in 1998. The race was put together to remember Lynn Ann Topp. Lynn was out for a morning jog on February 21, 1998 and never returned home. After a massive search by hundreds of community members each day, Lynn was found murdered several weeks later. In memory of Lynn and as a way to give back to the wonderful community, the Angel Run began. Lynn loved life and was not afraid to be her own person.
Over time, the race has taken on a life of its own as many people run the race each year to honor lost loved ones in their own lives as well.
The race usually has over 400 runners each year. Along with donations to various organizations within the community, the race has also been giving out scholarships to local college students that exemplify the qualities of Lynn Topp. Though the race course has changed somewhat over the years, the purpose of the race is still the same: Remembering All Lost Loved Ones.
